New Clients

Starting therapy, step by step

Reaching out is often the hardest part. Here is exactly what happens next, what it costs, and what to expect — so there are no surprises.

Intake & scheduling

How it works

  1. Send us your information

Complete the form on our Book Now page. You can name a specific clinician or choose "any available". Someone will get back to you within 1–2 business days.

    Go to Book Now →
  2. Optional 15-minute inquiry call

After you submit the form you'll be given a link to schedule a short call. Use it to ask questions before committing to an appointment.

  3. Complete your intake paperwork

Our client care coordinator sends everything you need. Please complete it at least 48 hours before your session to avoid rescheduling.

  4. Your 60-minute intake

You and your provider spend an hour together deciding whether this is the right fit. If it isn't, they will help you find someone more appropriate.

  5. Ongoing weekly sessions

Ongoing sessions run 55 minutes. Intensive sessions lasting several hours are available on an as-needed basis for acute needs.

Questions

Getting started

I'm scared to reach out. What will our first meeting be like?

It can seem very scary to talk with someone about the intense emotions that come with traumatic grief. All of your work with your provider will be at your own pace, on your own terms. Your first appointment is a 60-minute intake in which you and your provider decide together whether they can meet your therapeutic needs. Within the therapy setting, all of our providers strive to continually practice non-judgment, presence, and nuanced support specific to your own grief experience.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Complete the form on our Book Now page and a member of our team will reach out within 1–2 business days. You can also call or text 480-530-6441, or email info@thecenterforcompassion.com. After you submit the form you will be given a link to schedule a 15-minute inquiry call if you would like to ask questions first.

How long are sessions, and how often should I come?

Your first intake appointment is 60 minutes. Ongoing therapy sessions are 55 minutes. It is best to commit to weekly sessions in order to see the benefit of your therapeutic work. Intensive sessions lasting several hours are also offered on an as-needed basis for acute needs.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Tele-therapy sessions are available for anyone residing within the state of Arizona. Video sessions are offered on a secure, confidential, HIPAA-compliant platform. You must be physically located in Arizona at the time of your telemedicine session. If you are interested in tele-therapy, please note that during your initial contact.

What should I do before my first appointment?

You will be in communication with our client care coordinator, who will provide all the details you need. Please read all emails carefully and complete your intake paperwork at least 48 hours in advance of your session to avoid cancellation or rescheduling. When you arrive, have a seat in the lobby, make yourself comfortable, and feel free to have some refreshments. Bring any questions you'd like to review.
